TYSONS CORNER, VIRGINIA – KGD Architecture received NAIOP Northern Virginia’s Award of Excellence at the “Focus on Excellence” Gala, November 16. KGD won the “Building Capital Improvement: Non-Institutional” category for its renovation of 3100 Clarendon Boulevard in Arlington, Virginia.
NAIOP, the Commercial Real Estate Development Association, held its Best of NAIOP Northern Virginia event at the Tysons Ritz Carlton to celebrate significant new and renovated contributions by the commercial, industrial, and mixed-use real estate community.
KGD’s 3100 Clarendon project involved a comprehensive renovation of the iconic, 14-story, postmodern structure atop the Clarendon Metro station, one of the highest points in Arlington. The building’s contemporary potential had been reserved during its service to the Department of Defense. The design team crafted a facility renewal solution that offers a competitive option for the area’s available Class-A office space with its panoramic views of Washington, DC, and Northern Virginia, a newly designed lobby, direct access to the Metro station and garage, revitalized retail spaces, and a redesigned public entry plaza that enhances the primary building entrance, retail levels, and outdoor experience.
The 3100 Clarendon Boulevard project team included KGD Architecture; Piedmont Office Realty Trust; Avison Young; KTA Group, Inc.; and James G. Davis Construction Corporation.
