In response to the COVID-19 crisis, the Institute of Defense Analyses (IDA) will work with Arup and KGD to identify and implement strategies that reduce the risk of virus transmission and build overall organizational resilience.
For IDA – a non-profit dedicated to answering the most challenging U.S. security and science policy questions – safeguarding the health of staff and staying up and operational under hazardous conditions is critical. Arup and KGD will work with IDA to vet an array of resilience-building strategies, including interventions aimed at combatting the spread of infectious diseases. Options under consideration include enhanced filtration, ultraviolet germicidal irradiation (UVGI), bi-polar ionization, and 3D modelling of epidemiological scenarios and space usage patterns.
As the design team behind the new IDA headquarters currently under construction at Alexandria, Virginia’s Potomac Yard, Arup and KGD are strategically placed to help IDA identify and integrate the best available resilience solutions at their new headquarters building. The team will also provide IDA with guidance on how to help mitigate risk at their existing facilities.
