Today, we’re rolling out another new feature of KGD’s social media to include the opportunity to meet and get to know our amazing colleagues! Without further ado…
Meet Bunthit (Eddy) Rajtboriraks! Eddy was one of the first members of the KGD Family. Eddy is a seasoned architect with over 25 years of progressive experience at KGD, where he began as an architectural intern in 1998 and grew into a key leadership role. Presently, he serves as Director of KGD's Thailand studio. Here's what he had to say about his first meeting here.
What's your first memory of Ben and Chris?
“My first memory goes back to 1998 when Chris Gordon interviewed me at KGD's small McLean office. Chris explained Ben was at a project meeting but emphasized how particular he was about personality and capability, mentioning he might request a second interview. A few weeks later, I got the call to start immediately. My first impression of Ben was how articulate and detail-oriented he was – he had this remarkable ability to explain complex architectural concepts in ways that made them easy to understand. Ben also had eagle eyes for proportion; without ever using a scale, he could instantly spot any mis-proportioned object in perspective or catch out-of-scale elements in drawings. His last-minute revisions were challenging as a new graduate, but they taught me precision. Chris became an incredible mentor who guided me through details using his freehand squiggly linework that created perfectly scaled detail drawings with tremendous detail elements. Both had these exceptional spatial abilities – Ben's intuitive proportional sense and Chris's ability to translate complex details into accurate freehand drawings – truly a lost art in architecture.”
