This 122-unit affordable apartment building is a project of firsts for Arlington. It is the first ground-lease of public land by Arlington County for private development, and the first example of Arlington County’s “Public Land for Public Good” policy adopted in 2013. The project is the first redevelopment of an avenue site along Columbia Pike since its adoption of Form Based Code, and the first residential project in Arlington to be “district energy ready”.
The four-story, 5A building is constructed on top of the Arlington Mill Community Center parking garage and is designed to meet EarthCraft Green Building Specifications. The first floor includes a unique supportive housing wing operated in partnership between True Ground Housing Partners (formerly APAH) and Arlington County’s Department of Human Services, including thirteen studio apartments for community residents.
